El Campanil Theatre Preservation Foundation is pleased to be able to continue the long standing tradition of Antioch Rivertown Theatre (A.R.T.) which has presented children's theatre for many years.  We will offer young children an opportunity to express their talents and develop themselves by performing live theatre, at no cost to them, and at a very reasonable cost to their audience.

2010-2011 School Field Trips

El Campanil Children’s Theatre announces its 2010/2011 season
with exciting opportunities for youth, teens, teachers & adults!

Selected for ECCT’s season opener is The Emperors New Clothes, the Musical, based on the Hans Christian Anderson classic, which runs October 21st through November 7th. Auditions are Monday, August 30th from 4:00-6:00PM at El Campanil Theatre in Antioch. In addition to public performances, the production also performs to area schools for scheduled field trips. Emperor’s New Clothes is a funny, laugh your socks off comedy that teaches a lesson while enjoying the antics of the clothes-a-holic emperor of the Kingdom of Glump. It’s a popular story often discussed and studied in school. The musical production is sure to delight while meeting standards in both English Language Arts and Music while also reinforcing lifelong character lessons.

Following in December and a wonderful accompaniment to the holiday season is the musical version of The Velveteen Rabbit. This  adaptation of Margery Williams poignant children’s classic, is also a story beloved by teachers and parents alike. Like a favorite stuffed animal from childhood, this delightful musical will touch your hearts and remain forever in your memories. A timeless tale with a warm spirit, this play is the perfect option for the holiday season. A story with a message of the meaning of love, this production will be enjoyed by school children on field trips, and families who wish for something special during their holiday entertainment. Auditions are Monday, October 11th. Performances run December 2nd through 16th.

In March, 2011, the the literary classic, The Secret Garden, performs to schools, students and families.  Laughter and love in this touching story. Auditions are January 31, 2011 and performances are March 24th through April 7th.

Ending the school season, a grand production is planned with The Vagabond Players and El Campanil Children’s Theatre collaborating and performing Rodgers & Hammerstein's, The King and I ! Performances will be available to schools and will also tour to area  senior centers and facilities, as is the Vagabond Players custom. Last year, the Vagabond Players and children from ECCT, delighted seniors from East County to West County, as the entire cast, complete with costumes and set pieces, brought The Sound of Music to seniors who can no longer enjoy live theater due to health or mobility problems.
