Jason's Gypsy Coat

El Campanil Children's Theater has begun a new tradition!  It is called "Jason's Gypsy Coat" - an idea artistic director, Sharon Redman, borrowed from a theater company who honors their actors with a participation award titled the Gypsy Coat.  ECCT's recognition to one of its actors is not based on how good they can act, sing or dance, but what contribution they have made to ECCT by their participation, attendance, cooperation, respect, behavior, and of course, their acting as well. And it focuses on being a good team player.

The gypsy coat award is named after a young man who began his long participation in theater with me,  when he was just a young boy, and who has excelled in acting and theater, and though now an alumni, remains dedicated to his theater training and performs at the college he attends, while still being part of ECCT, on his trips home.

The recipient of the award will create a memento of their choosing to be placed on the gypsy coat. With each ECCT performance, another actor will receive the recognition and they will in turn, add their memento. Soon, the coat will be decorated with special mementos & will be displayed in the lobby on opening night. We look forward to this way of honoring our actors for their work and participation.
